Ground Beef Stroganoff Noodles

Ingredients 1 tablespoon unsalted butter 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste

½ cup diced onion 1 pound ground beef freshly ground black pepper 1 pinch cayenne pepper 2 cloves minced garlic

1 ⅓ tablespoons flour 2 ½ cups beef broth, or as needed 1 cup water 2 ½ cups egg noodles ½ cup sour cream, plus more for serving

Directions Compile every component.  

In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter and oil. Add the mushrooms, season with salt, and sauté for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring now and again, until they are golden brown.  

Add the ground meat and onion. Simmer for approximately five minutes, or until the beef is browned and crumbly and the onions are tender and transparent. Add cayenne and black pepper for seasoning.  

Add the flour and minced garlic, then sauté for one minute. After adding the vodka, give it about 30 seconds to evaporate.  

Add the water and beef broth, then stir and simmer. Cook for ten minutes, stirring from time to time.  

Switch to medium heat and stir in noodles. Put a tight-fitting lid on it and simmer it for five minutes. Remove the cover and give it a good shake. Recover and cook for 3 minutes or until noodles are barely tender.   

After the noodles are cooked, turn down the heat and mix in the sour cream. If preferred, garnish right away with more sour cream and green onions or chives.
