Directions As for pie: Start with a 375-degree oven. Put rolled pie dough in a pan. Make edge decorations.

Apple slices in a big basin. In a separate bowl, whisk cream, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour on apples. Fill pie shell with apples.

For the topping, mix butter, flour, sugar, pecans (chop if not using a food processor), and salt in a food processor or by hand. Mix until clumps form. Pour topping on apples.

Foil the edges and loosely cover the pie with flat foil. Place pie pan on rimmed cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour. When done, remove foil and let bake and brown. Continue baking for 15–20 minutes if needed.

Remove pie from oven when bubbling and golden brown. Serve warm with hard sauce, whipped cream, or ice cream.
